Barcelona has a rich history that spans back centuries, so it’s no wonder there is a collection of great museums that display all the archaeological finds from around the region.
The ArqueoTicket lets you enter four of the major archaeology museums in the city for free, and is valid for a year after purchase. This gives you the chance to explore the museums on one trip, on multiple trips, or over a lengthy period of time. Throughout the year the museums hold temporary exhibits, too, so you can pop in and see these at your leisure with the ArqueoTicket.
The Museums the ArqueoTicket Grants Entry For
Museu d’Arqueologia de Catalunya
This expansive museum takes you back in time through the centuries of history in Catalunya. Here, you can admire pre-historic necklaces, Late-Greek and Roman jewellery, and a selection of other handmade ancient items that have been discovered and preserved from the region.
Museu Egipci de Barcelona
If you’re a fan of Egyptology, you’ll want to head straight to this museum which is dedicated to showcasing artefacts and stories from ancient Egypt. As well as learning about how a millennia-old civilization grew and evolved, you can wander amongst a range of objects that hark back to a very different era.
Museu d’Historia de Barcelona
This museum focuses solely on the ancient history of Barcelona. As well as old scriptures and items found in archaeology digs, you can marvel at the inscriptions and logotypes that were prevalent thousands of years ago.
Centre Cultural del Born
This cultural institution offers two different lines of interest. Firstly, it takes visitors back in time to the 19th century, where there’s a market made from cast-iron and real-life scenes taken from this important era. Secondly, it displays 18th century Barcelona during the 1714 siege. As well as documents and photographs, you’ll be able to pick up the narrative that dominated the city at this time.
It’s worth bearing in mind that, even though the ArqueoTicket gives you free entry to these museums and can save you money in that respect, a couple of the institutions are actually free to everyone on certain days. For example, the Museu d’Historia de Barcelona is free on Sundays after 3pm as well as all day on the first Sunday of every month.
How to buy the ArqueoTicket
The easiest way to buy the ArqueoTicket is online via the Barcelona Tourism website. When you book you’ll receive a voucher which you can print and take to any one of the represented museums. There, you’ll be able to exchange it for a ticket which can be used in the other institutions.
If you can’t print the ticket, you can exchange it at the official Barcelona tourist office in Placa Catalunya. Alternatively, you can purchase the ticket from any of the museums listed on the card, as well as at any of the tourist information spots throughout the city.
